GETTING INTO REAL ESTATE

What would my work day look like being a real estate agent? How much schooling is it to become a real estate agent? Who would I work for? How much money will I make? How are agents even paid? 


It’s an intimidating industry to break into. After studying psychology and graduating from UNH in 2011, I was deep into a job hunt. While bartending at a local pub, a Real Estate Broker and her friends asked about my day. After explaining my frustration in finding a well-paying job right out of college, she suggested that I should get my real estate license. That wasn’t something I had even considered...


I mentioned this interaction to liquor sales rep later that day. He was excited by the idea, and agreed I would be good at it. I was still skeptical. Sales?! I’m not a salesperson. I don’t even OWN a home, how could I sell homes? He insisted I meet with a friend of his to discuss this option further. 


 At this point, I was definitely intrigued. What is this all about? What does it entail? How do I even get into this industry? Do I need to find someone to work for? Will someone even give me a job?
